Perfectly on time (which is well ahead of time) I boarded the Stena Line ferry from Kiel to Göteborg. I traveled the longest ever trip I took in Germany, from Salzburg just across the Southeast corner of Germany to the very North. The Bundesbahn worked like clockwork.
What lacks clockwork perfection is booking and ordering tickets for cross border train travel. To my knowledge, there is no portal that allows the willing traveler to book the travel across borders in a one-stop-shop style. It took me a good half day to reconcile the travel segments of Bundesbahn, Stena Ferry and Swedish Rail (SJ) .The travel booking portals do not offer coordinated train travel. The famous well known portals work so well for flights, why not for trains?
